여기서 할리 퀸이 자기 “기원담(origin story)”을 부정하는 방식이 상당히 인상적인데, 그 전까지의 일이 없었다고 말하는 게 아니라 결국은 내가 선택한 일이었다고 하는 것. 피해자 역시도 갖고있는 주체성과 그를 통한 자기회복을 이 코미디 쇼에 담아낸 것을 생각해보면, 할리퀸 영화가 나온 것은 오로지 이 애니메이션의 탄생을 위해서가 아니었나 싶다…

또 하나 재밌는 건 이 장면에서 할리 퀸의 태도는 조커가 말하고 다니는 명제, 즉 “어떤 재수없는 하루”와는 정면충돌한다는 점. 무작위적이고 무의미한 “어떤 재수없는 하루”를 겪고 나서, 사람은 마지막 이성을 놓기 때문에 미친다는 게 앨런 무어의 “킬링 조크” 시리즈 이후의 조커의 주장이었다. 반면, 여기서 할린 퀸젤의 광기는 어느 날 하루 갑자기 날벼락처럼 찾아온 게 아니라, 여러 과거가 쌓이고 쌓이는 와중에 어떤 한 지점에서 선택을 했던 것 뿐이다. 받아들이거나, 변하거나.

It is interesting that she did not ditch her past but re-valuated those for her origin story. Maybe, like from original Batman TAS universe, she was a mean psychologist with ambition or arrogant. Maybe it was from her family issues. In this scene, This is her statement : Her origin is the one decided by herself.

Also, This attitude of Harley is opposite to “one bad day” theory of Joker from Killing Joke. It is not a random and purposeless “one bad day” for making people crazy. There were days and days, It molds people in a certain way. But at some point you have to choose. Embrace or Change.
